STATE HOUSE WELCOME HOME AND RALLY FLAG LINE
April 23, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
EVERYONE WELCOME!
Since September 11, 2001, the United States has lost approximately 6,850 military members in Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn among various other operations in the Global War on Terror. As a result of their valiant sacrifice, their families are left to pick up the emotional, spiritual, and financial pieces of their lives. Upwards of 12,000 children and spouses must now cope with life without one of their closest friends and providers.
Government aid is not enough to bridge the gaps left by the increasing cost of education. The American Legion continues to lead from the front having established the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund almost immediately following 9/11 by extending the benefits of the fund to all children and stepchildren of services members who died while on active duty since 9/11. Beginning this year they have also included the children of Veterans rated at 50% or more disability by the VA.
For the 6th year in a row, Veterans, Sons of Veterans, and Auxiliary riders from the American Legion Riders of South Carolina will ride in memory of our fallen and severely disabled and in support of their children’s higher education needs by preserving the legacy of our post 9/11 fallen heroes. The children of our fallen deserve an education and they deserve a scholarship to help and guide their futures. Futures for children who have paid the ultimate sacrifice; the loss of a mother, father, guardian tragically lost while defending the greatest nation on the planet.
Since this is not an official PGR mission, but support to a Veteran’s Service Organization, official PGR missions will take precedence.
